Amazing times

I will introduce my homestay now. I think that the most wonderful thing is speaking speeches with my host families. I sang the song parody that is "Twelve Days of Christmas". The lyric is as below. "On my 1st day of homestay, my family & I did. Go to Farmer's Market. Eat BBQ. And we played board games.

On my 2nd day of homestay, my family and I did. Go play Arcade games. Eat hamburger & fries. Ride Ferris wheel. Swim in the pool. And we played board games. On my 3rd day of homestay, my family & I did. Go to Outlet Mall. Eat Mexican food. Go do some more shopping. And we played board games. On my 4th day of homestay, my family & I did. Hayride in Farmstead. Do mining. Go to Qwivirra Lake. And we played board games. On my 5th day of homestay, my family & I did. Eat biscuit and Gravy. Go see Union Station. Ride the street car. Eat fried chicken. And we played board games. On my last day of homestay, my family and I did. Go to a movie. Eat lunch playing Bocci. And we played board games." I was so nervous but I sang this song with my host family, I felt relax.

In second host family, this family is so big family. The family has ten children. At first, I was so supprised at them. However, they are so kind and robust so much. I had a lot of fun because they are actively and pretty. When I have to big farewell to the host family, they cry for me. It was glad for me.
Through the homestay, I could grow up myself and I learned many things such as living freestyle. My homestay is so wonderful and amazing. I want to come back the host family and then. I love the family and Kansas City. I think that I want to live in there in the future.

令和元年度姉妹都市訪問青少年生活体験・ホームステイの感想文

倉敷天城高校1年　大西　萌恵

私は姉妹都市訪問青少年生活体験団の団員として、17日間カンザスシティでホームステイをしました。この感想文では、私が17日間で体験したことや学んだことについて書きたいと思います。私のファーストホストファミリーは、日本人の奥さんがいる家庭でした。この家族は、ショッピングとボードゲームが好きな家族で本当に楽しい時間を過ごさせていただきました。

特に思い出に残った出来事は、家族のみんなで毎晩深夜までボードゲームをしたことです。みんな眠い目をこすりながらしたゲームは、本当に楽しかったです。またえつこさんと、将来の夢や学校での出来事について毎日話したことも大切な思い出です。えつこさんは日本で高校教師をしていて、アメリカでも大学の先生をしているので、私の将来の夢も教師ということもあり、たくさんのことを教えて貰いました。その中でも、「人は一回大きな挫折を絶対するのだから、小さな失敗は気にしないこと！」と教えて貰ったことが何よりも印象に残りました。また、その話を聞いて明るく生きようと思うことができるようになりました。セカンドホストファミリーは、アクティブな家族で、みんなでカヤックをして、プールへ行って、メキシカン料理を食べながらライブを見た一日は本当に楽しい一日でした。カヤックをしたのは、初めてで私にとってはどれもが新鮮な出来事でした。セカンドホストファミリーは大家族でしたが、みんな私を温かく迎え入れてくれて本当に優しい家族でした。カヤックで落ちそうになったときも、すぐに助けに来てくれて「カヤックとても上手」と言ってくれました。

お別れするときも、家族みんな泣いてくれて、ホストブラザーもハグしてくれて本当にこの家族にきて良かったなと思いました。このように、私は本当に充実した生活を送ることができました。またこの体験を通して、良い意味で周りを気にしないで自分らしく行動できるようになりました。それは、アメリカ人の自由を大切にする文化から学んだからだと思います。将来、カンザスに住みたいと思うくらい素敵な町にホームステイ出来て、本当に幸せでした。いつかまた、ホストファミリーに会いにいきたと思います。ホームステイは、自分自身を大きく成長させる素晴らしい体験だと思うので、英語が苦手な人も是非挑戦してほしいです。
